Dan Newberry is an author, speaker, entrepreneur, businessman, and former Oklahoma State Senator. Newberry has been a business professional in the mortgage banking industry for over eighteen years and currently serves as the VP of Mortgage Operations for TTCU – Federal Credit Union. Using the principles discussed in his presentation Reset – Unlocking Your Team to Achieve, Newberry led the TTCU mortgage division from $30 million in annual production to over $140 million in four years. Newberry also started TTCU’s first credit union service organization, Integrity Title and Closing, which through vertical integration, became profitable after only six months.
Newberry’s team at TTCU was named Oklahoma Magazine’s “Best of the Best for Mortgages”.
Prior to his tenure at TTCU, Newberry was the Founder and President of Homeland Federal Mortgage, a business he started with two employees and grew to several dozen employees, creating $150 million in revenue across four divisions including real estate, construction, title, and mortgage.
Newberry served in the Oklahoma State Senate from 2008 – 2017 where he and served as Majority Whip and Chairman of the Business and Commerce Committee, which focuses on developing economic policy and job growth within the state. Under his stewardship, Oklahoma retained one of the lowest unemployment rates in its history. Newberry was honored with the Guardian of Free Enterprise award for his work in reducing regulations and the National Federation of Independent. Businesses awarded him the Guardian of Small Business award for championing economic issues that affect small business. In 2012, Newberry became a distinguished Henry Toll Fellow. In 2015 Newberry was honored with the Credit Union Advocate of the Year from the Cornerstone Credit Union League for his work on regulatory reform on behalf of credit unions.
After attending a funeral at Arlington Cemetery for a fallen Oklahoma Soldier, Newberry created the Gold Star Medal of Honor to be given to the families of Oklahoma soldiers killed in action. Additionally, Newberry and his wife Laura founded the Paul Revere Reading Society, an organization focused on helping children learn to read while embracing our rich heritage as a country. The project has expanded to include therapy dogs assisting special needs students in reading skills – they firmly believe in America illiteracy should not be an epidemic.
Newberry is currently the co-host of “The Future of Real Estate” on KRMG radio, a regular contributor to KRAQ’s “Pat Campbell Show,” and a member of the Elite Tolls Fellowship. Newberry earned a diploma of Charismatic Ministry at Oral Roberts University, a Liberal Arts B.S. from Oral Roberts with a focus on Leadership and Organizational Management, and a MBA from UNC Chapel Hill in 2018 with special focus on Leadership and Global Management.
